Jessie F. Daniels Forsyth . . . Jessie F. Daniels passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 11, 2015, New Providence Baptist Church with burial in Monroe Hills Memorial Gardens. Rev. Brian Moore will officiate. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at New Providence Baptist Church. Pallbearers are Jessie's nephews: Steve Daniels, Billy Ray Daniels, Ronnie Daniel, Randy Daniel, Ricky Daniel, Jerry Daniels, Steven Daniels and Donnie Pipkin. Mr. Daniels, the son of the late Jesse Daniels and Julia Barrs Daniels was born September 1, 1928, in Bleckley County, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph, Billy, Harold and, Bob Daniels and his sisters, Sallie Mae Lassiter, Elizabeth Nesmith and Annis Dean. Jessie's life was full of adventure and hard work. He was the life of the party and enjoyed life with bold colors, lots of music, and lots of people. He was truly a self-made man with humble beginnings. At the age of 18 he was a star basketball player in Cochran, Ga. His team suffered a major loss when Jessie left school to enlist in the United States Army during WWII as a drill sergeant. During his enlistment he was tasked with guarding the Japanese Emperor, Hirohito after Japan had surrendered to the Allied forces. After his enlistment, Jessie and his childhood friend hitchhiked home across country from San Francisco Ca. to Cochran, Ga. This adventure of two small town country boys took about a month before they reached home. Jessie met his wife of 66 years, Agnes, in Macon, Ga. They had three children and they started and operated numerous businesses in Butler, Ga, Forsyth, Ga. and Eatonton, Ga. He was best known for his operating the Forsyth Red and White and the Forsyth Dairy Queen. He received numerous awards for both of these businesses. Jessie was devoted to his church and community. He donated his time, energy and resources to various civic groups, clubs, churches, and fund raisers. He was a founding board member of Monroe Academy, achieved the 32 degree Mason, was a Shriner, was a drummer in the Red Coat Band and traveled with the Ga. Bulldog's Motor Coach Club and the Macon Motor Boat Club. Jessie moved to Lake Sinclair, Ga where he loved to entertain family and friends. Large cookouts and picnics along with swimming and water skiing was what Jessie enjoyed the most. He was the happiest when he was surrounded by lots of people, lots of good food, and lots of music. He had a passion for gospel and country music. The day before he passed away he sang, "Your Cheating Heart" to the Veterans in his unit at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center, Dublin, Ga. For the last five years, Jessie was a resident at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center, Dublin, Ga. The family would like to express its heartfelt thanks to all the physicians, nurses, recreation staff, aids and volunteers of unit 17B and 10 A. Thank you for caring for Jessie and for being so kind to us, his family. Jessie is survived by his wife, Agnes H. Daniels; children, Beverly Jackson (Randy),Larry Daniels(Lorna) and Nancy White(Gary), grandchildren and great grandchildren; Mike Daniels (Patti) - Dakota and Cameron, Casey Jackson (Katie) – River , Jessica Sowell (Jesse) - Marilyn "Mazzy", Amy Haney (Ben) -Kyle, Emma and Lillian Haney, Tyler White, Caleb Little, Lyndsey Little and Becky Little; brothers, Emmett, Lamar, and Tommy Daniels; sisters, Inez Pipkin and Sue Sanders; numerous nieces and nephews. The family may be contacted at the residence 31 Maplewood Drive, Forsyth, Georgia 31029. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Shriners Hospital for Children, Post Office Box 1525, Ranson, West Virginia 25438-0018. Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
