George M. Waldrep departed this world for heaven on Sunday, April 26, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Monroe County Memorial Chapel with burial in Memorial Gardens, Highway 41. The family will welcome friends prior to the service from 2:30-3:30 p.m. at the chapel.
George was the son of the late Harold Wallace and Martha Inez Waldrep, was born March 20, 1921 in Monroe County, Georgia. He was a faithful member of Fairview Methodist Church. He was a retired Lt. Colonel from the United States Air Force with over 27 years’ service and 70,000 flying hours, having flown Presidents Dwight D. Eisnehower and Richard M. Nixon, as well as heads of states and other congressional dignitaries.
George is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 63 years, DeWildar (Dee) Waldrep; nephews Fred, Earnest and Steven Carter, Wynn and Glen Claridy; nieces Janet Carter and Lisa Waldrep, Ramona, Diana and Sabina Claridy, along with great nieces and nephews.
The Waldrep and Claridy families greatly appreciate all the kind loving help and sympathy extended to them.
