Ben Austin Wood, Jr. Forsyth . . . Ben Austin Wood, Jr. passed away Monday, February 16, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at New Beginning Church with burial in East Juliette Baptist Church Cemetery. Mark Goolsby will officiate. The family will greet friends the day of the service from 10: 00 a.m. until service time at the church. Mr. Wood, the son of the late Benjamin Austin Wood, Sr. and Lelia Sills Wood was born December 2, 1922, in Porterdale, Georgia. He was retired from the City of Jackson Golf Course, a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II and a member of New Beginning Church. Survivors include his wife, Betty Wood of Forsyth; son and daughter in law, Dennis and Debbie Wood of Richmond, Virginia; five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
