Walter Lydell Candy Grant, Alabama . . . Walter Lydell Candy passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 12, 2015, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel with burial in Monroe Memorial Gardens. Rev. Franklin Etheridge will officiate. The family will greet friends the day of the service from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Mr. Candy, the son of the late Walter Grant Candy and Mary Grace Bailey Candy was born March 8, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois. He was retired owner and operator of Candy Electric Company in Monroe County, Georgia. His son, Walter Lee Candy preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Loretta Candy of Grant, Alabama; children, Steven Candy of Washington State, George Candy of Bolingbroke, Jeremiah Candy of Florida and Carolyn Grace Fortin of Winston Salem, North Carolina; sisters, Donna Lee Williams of Macon and Diane White of Lakeland, Florida; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren. The family requests no flowers but suggests donations to Hospice of Marshall County, 408 Martling Road, Albertville, Alabama 35951. Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
