Doris M. Jordan, RN
MACON – Doris M. Jordan, RN, 87, of Morgan Drive, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014. Private funeral services will be held in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville. Dr. Marcus Tripp will officiate.
Mrs. Jordan was born May 6, 1927 and was raised at The Methodist Children’s Home in Macon. She graduated from A.L. Miller High School and the Macon Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse in local hospitals including the Medical Center of Central Georgia.
Mrs. Jordan served as the President of the WSCS (Women’s Society of Christian Service) and as a Bible school teacher at Hillcrest United Methodist Church. She served her community as a volunteer through her daughters’ schools, as a Girl Scout Troop leader, and as chairman of fundraising for the American Cancer Society. She was nationally recognized for her outstanding contribution to various charitable organizations through her association with RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program). She brought joy to the lives of family, friends, and neighbors through her generous spirit, her handwritten notes, her thoughtful gifts, and her talent of handmade creations. She had an amazing ability of making every birthday and Christmas special.
Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, Russell A. Jordan. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Kelley and Sheryl Jordan; grandchildren, Joanna Dean and Steven Kelley; and great-grandsons, Samuel, Joseph, and Jacob Dean.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
