Bera Kay Denham Banks

Forsyth . . . Bera Kay Denham Banks passed away peacefully at her home on October 8, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 10, 2014, at Forsyth United Methodist Church with burial in Monroe Hills Memorial Gardens. Reverend Ken Stephens and Reverend Darris Baker will officiate. The family will greet friends the day of the service from 2:00 p.m. until service time at Forsyth United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Banks, the daughter of the late Alfred Elery Denham, Sr. was born January 14, 1948, in Macon, Georgia. Her husband, Gilbert Alexander Banks, Jr. preceded her in death.
Mrs. Banks graduated from Margaret McEvoy High School. She attended Young Harris College and graduated from Valdosta State College with a BS Degree in Education. She received her Master’s Degree from Mercer University and taught at Hubbard Elementary School for many years. She was a member of Forsyth United Methodist Church, Wesley Fellowship Sunday School Class, Forsyth Bridge Club and Forsyth Book Club.
Survivors include her daughter, Anna Banks Shaw (Casey) of Forsyth; mother, Marjorie Denham Ashurst of Cedartown, Georgia; brother, Elery Denham (Deena) of Wilmington, North Carolina and grandchildren, Julia Catherine Blair and Gracen Creed Shaw. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and caregivers, Annie Mann, Barbara Culler, Bridgett Middleton, Bridgett Clements, Florine Gibson, Sue Ann Smith, Mary Freeman and Julia Battle.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Forsyth United Methodist Church, Post Office 108, Forsyth, GA 31029.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
