Elizabeth Melton Carroll Smarr . . . Elizabeth Melton Carroll passed away Sunday, September 28, 2014. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at Forsyth City Cemetery. Reverend Claire Yoder will officiate. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. Mrs. Carroll, the daughter of the late William Harold Melton and Mabel Gose Melton was born December 17, 1917, in Monroe County, Georgia. Her husband, Claude Hollis Carroll and her son, John Robert “JC” Carroll preceded her in death. She was retired from Dr. Patton Smith’s office as a bookkeeper. Survivors include her children, Jean (Joe) Briggs of Hartwell and Nancy Lee (Charles) Floyd of Smarr, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to United Methodist Women of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 261, Smarr, GA 31086. Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
