William “Ed” Sparks
Forsyth . . . William “Ed” Sparks passed away Thursday, September 25, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel with burial in Monroe Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time at Monroe County Memorial Chapel.
Mr. Sparks, the son of the late Cleo Charles Sparks and Hazel Helen Tate Sparks, was born August 31, 1934, in Porterdale, Georgia. His brothers, Donald Ray Sparks, Sammy Sparks and Gary Phillip Sparks, Jr. and his granddaughter, Leigh Jenkins preceded him in death. He was a retired contractor and was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Whitehead Sparks of Forsyth; children, Paula (Kenneth) Jenkins and Buddy (Dawn) Sparks of Forsyth; sisters, Helen Cleo Granade and Sally Lou Shelton of Forsyth; sister in law, Josie Sparks of Bolingbroke; nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
