Cordelia Nisbet Collins
Forsyth . . . Cordelia Nisbet Collins passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Dr. H. Darrell Watson will officiate. Burial will be private in Mimosa Cemetery, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at Monroe County Memorial Chapel.
Mrs. Collins was born September 3, 1915 in Gratis, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Burchell Whipple Nisbet and Hazel Eva Darragh Nisbet. After high school Mrs. Collins worked as a bookkeeper and studied voice in Dayton, Ohio. In 1943 Mrs. Collins went to New York to study and work. Mrs. Collins and her husband R. Lee Collins were introduced by their mutual teacher and were married in 1949. While in Manhattan Mrs. Collins sang at Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church, at Riverside Church and at the Brick Church Park Avenue. She and her husband moved to Forsyth in 1955 where she became employed by Trio Manufacturing Company as their bookkeeper and remained there until her retirement. Cordelia was a member of First Baptist Church.
The family requests no flowers but suggests donations to First Baptist Church, 95 West Morse Street, Forsyth, GA 31029.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
