Sallie Land Herndon Forsyth . . . Sallie Land Herndon passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel with burial in Monroe Memorial Gardens. Joe Herndon will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2014, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Mrs. Herndon, the daughter of the late James Duke Land and Sara Marie Armstrong Land was born September 30, 1923, in Twiggs County, Georgia. Her son, Troy Herndon preceded her in death. She was retired from Packaging Corporation and also from The ARC Macon. Survivors include her children; Bill (Diana) Simmons of Gray, Charles (JoAnn) Herndon of Forsyth, John (Cheri) Herndon of Forsyth and Joe (Sylvia) Herndon of Juliette; brother, Jessie Land of Gray; twenty-two grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
