Joseph Eric Tharp
Joseph Eric Tharp, a longtime resident of Monroe County, passed away Thursday June 5, 2014 at the Coliseum Medical Center. He was born in Webb City, Missouri August 26, 1947, the son of the late Mickey and Twyla Tharp of Forsyth. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 8, 2014, at Monroe Hills Memorial Gardens. Reverend Charles Holmes will officiate. The family will greet friends the day of the service from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the graveside.
Mr. Tharp served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He was an award-winning teacher at Peach County Vocational High School and a local business owner who enjoyed fishing and telling tall tales.
He is survived by his daughters Wilma Nicholas (Dave) of Highlands Ranch, CO, Sandra Brown (Donald) of Monroe, GA, Angelique Griffin (Joseph) of Macon GA, sisters Lynn Hesse (Dean) of Stone Mountain, GA, Kathy Herndon (Phillip) of Forsyth, GA, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. His daughter Melissa Tharp preceded him in death.
