Patricia Carroll McKenney
(July 14, 1924 – February 11, 2014)
Patricia (Patsy) Carroll McKenney, age 89, of Forsyth, Georgia entered her Eternal Home Tuesday, February 11, 2014. Ms. Patsy was born in Monroe County to the late J.C. Carroll and Ola Hollis Carroll. She was preceded in death by her husband Berner McKenney, daughter Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Vante and grandson James (Jim) W. Showman III.
Patsy is survived by her daughter, Patricia Showman (James) of McDonough, Catherine Freeman (Harold) of Charlotte, North Carolina, son-in-law Leif Vante of Norway, sister-in-law, Elizabeth Carroll of Smarr, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Berner and Patsy retired to Forsyth, Georgia in 1985. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Forsyth and a part of The Joy Sunday school class. She volunteered as a Pink Lady at the Monroe County Hospital. She regularly cooked and delivered Meals on Wheels and once received a citizen award for her contribution to her community. Patsy loved working in her yard, always deeply loved her pets and enjoyed cooking and baking. Patsy was a true matriarch, nurturing and caring for many of her family members. She always opened her home to her family, if it was for a few hours or even a few days. She faithfully loved and treasured her family, friends and neighbors and was honored and loved by them all.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014, at First Baptist Church. Dr. H. Darrell Watson will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the First Baptist Church of Forsyth, 95 West Morse Street Forsyth GA 31029.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
