Lurline Burke Waldrep
Forsyth . . . Lurline Burke Waldrep passed away Monday, December 23, 2013, after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 27, 2013, at Forsyth United Methodist Church, with burial in Forsyth City Cemetery. Reverend Ken Stephens will officiate. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. the day of the service at Forsyth United Methodist Church until the time of the service.
Mrs. Waldrep was born in Forsyth, Georgia on July 27, 1917, the eleventh child of William Patrick Burke and Clara Slade Burke. She was predeceased by her husband, Otis L. Waldrep, Jr., her son, Roy L. Waldrep and all of her ten siblings. She was married to her husband Otis Waldrep, on Christmas day in 1939. They were married for fifty-seven years. Mrs. Waldrep was a lifetime resident of Forsyth, a mother and homemaker and a member of Forsyth United Methodist Church. When she was five years old, she was the senior class mascot for Tift College. After graduating from Mary Persons High School, she worked for the Rose Theater.
She is survived by her two daughters, Linda W. Barnett (Tom) of Suwanee, Georgia and Nan Thomas (Ed) of Birmingham, Alabama, three granddaughters, Leanne B. Bean (Gary) of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Nancy B. McNeill (Kevin) of Cumming, Georgia and Karen Thomas of Denver, Colorado. She is also survived by four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
