Calvin Coolidge Mitchell
Forsyth . . . Calvin Coolidge Mitchell passed away Saturday, December 7, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at Maynard Baptist Church with burial in Monroe Hills Memorial Gardens. Reverend Jay Moore, Reverend Danny Parker and Reverend Raymond Steinkamp will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 9, 2013, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel.
Mr. Mitchell, the son of the late Alexander Stephens Mitchell and Nellie Mae Richardson Mitchell was born September 17, 1924, in Upson County. After the death of his wife of fifty-eight years, Dorothy Louise Mitchell, he married Opal Belknap. He retired as a maintenance worker after many years of service with the Holiday Inn in Forsyth. Mr. Mitchell was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II and was a member of New Piney Baptist Church for twenty seven years.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Belknap Mitchell of Forsyth, sons, Dan (Carole) Mitchell of Lilburn and Ron (Sheila) Mitchell of Yatesville, sisters, Betty Hill of Forsyth and Roxanne Fitzpatrick of Morrow, grandchildren, Corey, David, Derek and Daniel Mitchell and Julie Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Alzheimer’s Association, 886 Mulberry Street, Macon, GA 31201.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
