George Barret Mahoney
Jones County . . . . . . George Barret Mahoney, age 69, of Jones County returned home on Monday, October 14, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, George F Mahoney & Clara P Neal, and his brother, William N Mahoney. Survivors include his life companion, Jerie B Williams, nephew Mark Mahoney (Kristal), step-daughters, Cindy Durham, Tracie Souther (Neil) & Terri Duncan (Jarrad) as well as great nieces & nephews, Chandler Mahoney, Pyper Mahoney, & Felicity Mahoney. Grandchildren include Joshua Boyd, Emily Compere, and Coleman Duncan.
George was a graduate of Memphis State University (’70) where he played football. He had a very fulfilling life and lived every day to its fullest. He was an amateur boxer and Vietnam Veteran who enjoyed the outdoors, especially coyote hunting. He was a very successful entrepreneur, spending multiple decades as the owner of Southern Process Equipment.
The memorial service will be held at the Monroe County Memorial Chapel in Forsyth at 11am on Friday, October 18, 2013. A celebration of George’s life will be held after the memorial service at 147 West Johnston St in Forsyth.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to the University of Memphis Tiger Scholarship Fund 119 Athletic Office Building Memphis TN 38152.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
