Joan Carolyn Mathews Forsyth . . . Joan Carolyn Mathews passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2013. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October, 12, 2013, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Burial will be private. Reverend Jackie Wharam and Reverend Tommy Waters will officiate. The family will greet friends the day of the service from 2:00 p.m., until the hour of the service, at the funeral home. Ms. Mathews, the daughter of the late Leo Edenfield and Mildred Carter Edenfield was born October 10, 1942, in Jessup, Georgia. She was retired from Transwestern Publishing. Survivors include her children, Steve Mathews of Screven, Georgia, Ken (Myra) Mathews of Forsyth and Victoria Chafin of Shirley, Arkansas, sister, Wanda Diane (Lee) Chalhub of Mobile, Alabama, brother, Chuck Edenfield of Florence, Arizona and seven grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry Street, Macon, GA 31201 or to Autism Speaks, 900 Circle 75 Parkway, Suite 445, Atlanta, GA 30339. Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
