Forsyth . . . . Dean Gipson Martin, born September 23, 1927, near Berner, Georgia in his ancestral home, to Owen Gipson Martin and Mary Lizzie Smith, “shuffled off this mortal coil” on October 4, 2013, at his home in Forsyth, Georgia.
Graduating from Mary Persons High School in 1944, he entered the United States Navy where he served until the Fall of 1947. Dean had been married for sixty- three years, to Wynella Wynne Martin. He was a family man, and in his younger years he had a passion for hunting. His church membership remained at Cabaniss Baptist Church.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Stephen Earl Martin and Kyle Owen Martin, and five brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Neil Arde Martin and Darryl Ian Martin (Veronica), daughter in law, Kathryn Keaton Martin, as well as nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His sister, Olga Martin Blades, 95 years of age, resides in Clemmens, N. C.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Forsyth on Tuesday, October 8th at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. in the church sanctuary. The family requests that instead of floral offerings, donations be made to the Capital Stewardship Campaign at First Baptist Church of Forsyth.
