Reverend Norman Max Harrell, Sr.
Forsyth . . . Reverend Norman Max Harrell, Sr. passed away Monday, September 30, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 4, 2013, at Rogers United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m., at the Harrell Cemetery, Godwinsville, Hwy 341, between Eastman and Chauncey. Reverend Tommy Martin and Sonny Rogers will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 3, 2013, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel.
Reverend Harrell, the son of the late Lawton and Norma Mae Conner Harrell was born November 23, 1928, in Eastman, Georgia. He retired from Southern Bell with forty years of service. Reverend Harrell was a Lay Pastor and associate member of South Georgia United Methodist Conference. He was pastor at Rogers United Methodist Church for eighteen years. His son, Norman Max Harrell, Jr. preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Harrell of Forsyth, children, Beth Davenport of Forsyth and Reverend Stanley (Anna) Harrell of Griffin, sisters, Nannette (Matthew) Jones of Empire and Laura Ann Lewis of Chauncey, brother, Conner (Betty Sue) Harrell of Lilburn, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Rogers United Methodist Church, c/o Kathy Ivey, 636 Gregory Road, Forsyth, GA 31029 or to Alzheimer’s Association.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
