Alvah Ronald Childs Forsyth . . . Alvah Ronald Childs died Thursday, June 6, 2013. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Mr. Childs, the son of the late Charles J. Childs and Velma Ion Potts Childs, was born January 30, 1928, in Forsyth, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Florrie Zellner Childs, who lovingly raised him as her own, one brother, five step-sisters and three step-brothers. He was a retired dairyman, a member of the Dairyman Association and a member of Forsyth United Methodist Church. Survivors include his children, Ronny (Connie) Childs of Gainesville and Iris (Jim) Barkley of Weaverville, North Carolina, five grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
