Allen was born December 1, 1985 to Dale and Elaine Simms. He graduated from Mary Persons High School in 2004. Allen has loved the trees and wildlife of God’s creation his entire life. To further that love, Allen earned a Bachelors in Forestry and Wildlife Management from the Warnell School of Forestry at the University of Georgia in 2011. After graduation, Allen was selected for an internship at the Joseph W. Jones Ecological Research Center at Ichauway Plantation in Newton, GA. After completion, Allen returned to Culloden and was employed at Ecological Equipment Leasing, Inc. in Forsyth.
Allen will be remembered by his family and a host of friends that loved him and that he loved. He was a treasured son, grandson, brother, uncle and loyal friend. Allen was a passionate hunter and fisherman and enjoyed sharing outdoor experiences with family and friends. Allen was committed to making the land he loved better by practicing forestry and improving wildlife habitat. Allen packed a lot of living into his short 27 years. His easy smile and fun-loving personality affected everyone he touched.
Allen is survived by his parents, wonderful brothers Steven (spouse, Hannah and son, Benjamin) of Atlanta, and Andrew (fiancée Brynne Weed) of Culloden. Also by his loving grandparents Wesley and Nan Rapillard, Ray(deceased) and Katharine Simms, all of Culloden and many loving extended family members.
