Joseph English Peters
Bolingbroke . . Joseph English Peters died Wednesday, January 9, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel, 86 West Main Street, Forsyth, GA, with burial in Forsyth City Cemetery. Reverend Max Harrell will officiate. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at Monroe County Memorial Chapel.
Mr. Peters, the son of the late James Davis Peters and Ruby Johnson Peters, was born March 25, 1919, in Monroe County, Georgia. He was of the Methodist Faith.
Graduated from Mary Persons High School. A veteran, serving in the European Theater of War during World War II. He was a military Policeman and retired from Robins Air Force Base, GA as a civilian policeman and was also in the dairy business. Preceded in death by three brothers, Merriell "Preacher", Noel "Buck" and William "Bill" Peters and two sisters, Margaret Peters Bagley and Laura Ann Peters Davis.
Survivors: Wife, Marion Callaway Peters, Son, Larry (Regina) Peters, Bolingbroke, Daughter, Susan (Eddie) Home, Macon, Grandchildren, Suzanne (Lance) Howard and Bryant Home, Macon, Will Peters, Athens and Sarah Peters, Bolingbroke, Two great grandchildren, Peyton and Emily Claire Howard.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Monroe County Veterans Memorial, PO Box 766, Forsyth, GA 31029 (for World War II Veterans who are not currently recognized) or JDRF Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation GA Chapter, 3525 Piedmont Rd. NE, Building 6 Suite 300, Atlanta GA 30305.
