Forsyth, GA . . . . Thomas Watson Cole, 92, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 24, 2012, at Mary Black Hospital, Spartanburg, SC. Thomas was born on October 30, 1920, to the late Thomas Cole, Sr. and Annie C. Goggans. He was a retiree of the United States Postal Service. He served his country in the Army during World War II. He was a long time member of Russellville Baptist Church until his health started failing. He was truly a Godly man who loved his family and friends. He was predeceased by his two very loving wives Pauline Cole and Queenie Smith Cole.
He is survived by a sister, Rebecca Stevens and her husband, JC Stevens of Burning Springs, Kentucky. He is also survived by a niece, Betty Christopher and her husband, Ben, and their two children, Taylor and Savannah of Boiling Springs, SC and a nephew, James Fordham and his wife, Faye and their two children, Tina and Edward of Rentz, GA. Thomas is also survived by other family members but most importantly many close friends who loved and helped care for him in his latter days.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel, with burial in the Russellville Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Bruce Martin and Reverend JC Stevens will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Edward Fordham, Johnny Thompson, Steve Stavely, Elwyn Fowler, Mark Willis, Robert Cole. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church's social hall.
