Dr. Laurie Ann Jossey Dr. Laurie Ann Jossey of Forsyth and Dahlonega, Georgia, died Thursday, December 20, 2012. The family will greet friends at Forsyth United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 29 at 10:00 a.m. with a memorial service following at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Ken Stephens will officiate with Dr. Darrell Watson, pastor of First Baptist Church, assisting. A private interment will follow. Laurie was born August 30, 1954, in Forsyth, Georgia, the daughter of Laurie Jane and Paul H. Jossey, Jr. She was a lifelong member of Forsyth United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for over three decades. Dr. Jossey earned degrees at Tift College (BA/1975), The University of Georgia (M.Ed./1977), and Middle Tennessee State University (D.A./1988). She was employed at North Georgia College and State University as the Assistant Dean of the College of Education. Her thirty-five years in the field of education included serving as Chairman of the Education Division at Brewton-Parker College and Director of Athletics and as Assistant Professor of Physical Education at Tift College. Her family, friends, and students will remember her zest, joy for life, and courageous spirit. She is survived by her parents; brother Paul H. Jossey III and sister-in-law Katheryn of Elberton, Georgia; nephew Brian Jossey of Athens, Georgia; niece Laurie and husband Craig Truitt of Elberton; and nephew Scott Jossey of Elberton. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Dr. Jossey may be made to Forsyth United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 108, Forsyth, GA 31029. Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
