Catherine Joslyn

July 22, 1929 — December 13, 2012

Mrs. Catherine Joslyn a long time resident of Forsyth, died on December 13, 2012 after a short illness following surgery, she was 83. Born July 22, 1929 in Hart County Georgia she later lived in Brunswick and Macon, Georgia and Monticello Maine, before moving to Monroe County in 1951. Mrs. Joslyn worked at the William Carter Company in Forsyth for twenty years and was a partner in Yankee and Dan’s Flea Market. After retiring from these jobs, she was a volunteer at The Circle of Care. Her real love was always her family and she enjoyed doing all she could for them. For the last four years she was a resident at the Carousel House in Forsyth. Preceding Mrs. Joslyn in death were her parents Joseph Alexander Ellis and Hattie Kate Harper Ellis, a sister Betty Ellis, and her husband of forty-five years, Alexander Nelson “Yankee” Joslyn. Survivors include two children Mrs. Vicky Joslyn Smith (husband Mr. John Smith) of Monroe County and Mr. Dan Joslyn (wife Dr. Susan Shelton) of Falmouth Massachusetts; there are three grandchildren Mrs. Donna Norris (husband Mr. David Norris), Mrs. Danette Joslyn-Gaul (husband Mr. Jonathan Gaul) and Ms. Alix Joslyn, and six great grandchildren, Ms. Joslyn Davis, Dawson Goen, Hunter Norris, Joshua Gaul, Nathaniel Gaul, and Erin Gaul. There is one great-great granddaughter Mattie Heath Davis. Monroe County Memorial Chapel of Forsyth, 86 West Main Street Forsyth, is handling arrangements. The family has requested there not be a viewing, but there will be a graveside service for family and friends to be held at the Forsyth City Cemetery, at 3:00PM on Friday December 14, 2012. A loving person, she will be missed by us all.
