Mary Herndon Callaway
Bolingbroke . . . Mary Herndon Callaway died Sunday, December 2, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel with burial in Monroe Hills Memorial Gardens. The Reverend Jimmy Corbitt will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 3, 2012, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel.
Mrs. Callaway, the daughter of the late Wilbur Herndon Sr. and Agnes Harrison Herndon was born November 26, 1923, in Macon, Georgia. Her son, Dale Harry Callaway, her sister, Grace Tuten and her brothers Wilbur Herndon, Jr., Luther Herndon and Ray Herndon preceded her in death. Mrs. Callaway moved to Bolingbroke in 1975. She was a graduate of A. L. Miller High School, a homemaker, an avid cross word puzzle solver, a collector of antiques and enjoyed decorating her home with her collections. She was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-three years, James Harry “Red” Callaway of Bolingbroke, sister, Barbara Herndon of Macon, several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Bethany Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 539, Bolingbroke, GA 31004.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
