Wayne Morris
Forsyth . . . . Wayne Morris, longtime Forsyth resident and Southeast Publications Vice President passed away early in the day, July 23, 2012. He was in Florida visiting the Corporate Office with his wife Carlene, and unexpectedly passed away after his morning exercises. Wayne was 67 years old.
Wayne loved his family and is survived by his wife, Carlene; 4 adult children, Steve Morris and his wife Dana, Dee Tiryung, ZinaRubino and her husband Bill, and David Morris, 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, his sister, Donna Glore and her husband Keith and his brother Chuck Morris and his wife Elaine.
One if his greatest joys in life was spending time with his family. Wayne loved family gatherings and most recently was able to spend time with the family he loved so much for the 4th of July.
Wayne and Carlene married in Forsyth, GA in 1973, and then moved to Kentucky for a few years. Wayne was a truck driver for Howard Johnsons and enjoyed driving trucks for 20 years. Wayne was also an avid RV’er and he told everyone how he and Carlene left Kentucky on January 30, 1986 in a 35 foot 5th wheel and never looked back.
In 1990 Wayne and Carlene began their lifestyle with the Southeast Publications family and for 22-years his partnership and dedication helped founder Peter Warrick escalate Southeast Publications success to what it is today and what it has represented for the last 26 years. Wayne led the sales force by example and with diligent professionalism. Wayne was dedicated to helping Southeast Publications’ Sales Associates be more proficient and successful with their independent business practices and spent time developing better recruiting and training procedures to ensure high success rates for all Sales Associates.
Throughout all of their travels and time on the road, Wayne and Carlene continued their commitment to community improvement. They eventually returned to Forsyth and purchased Betsy Lynn Apartments in 1995 and most recently, Ridgewood Apartments in 2008. Adding to his support of local merchants, Wayne took pride in being able to give back to the local community.
Wayne’s knowledge in the RVing Industry was tremendous and he truly understood all aspects of RVing whether it was being a resident expert on what RV’ers needed or offering Resorts his advice on attracting and appeasing their RVing customers. He also sat on the board for multiple associations, providing his vast experience and insight as guidance to help promote the industry he loved. He was a leader and an inspiration and touched the hearts of everyone who was lucky enough to meet him.
Aside from being Vice President at Southeast Publications, Wayne was a member of the board for KOA Care Camps. With the influence of Wayne, Southeast Publications has raised and donated over $400,000 since 1994 to benefit children with cancer and give them the experience of camping. The family has asked that if you would like to make a donation in honor of Wayne, please do so to the KOA Care Camps 501(c)3 at www.koacarecamps.org.
