Forsyth . . . Jack L. Treadwell, 84, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2012. Jack Treadwell was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Treadwell was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and attended Crawford County High School. Mr. Treadwell worked for the Central Georgia Railroad for ten years, taking one year off to serve in the U.S. Army. After leaving the railroad, he opened a Gulf service station in Macon and in 1960 he opened Treadwell Ford in Forsyth. Mr. Treadwell was an entrepreneur and owned many businesses throughout his career, including Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, Holiday Cove Apartments, Immunio Life Wellness Clinic, Ingleside Memorial Chapel, and Monroe County Bonding Company.
He served as President of the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the boards of 1st Citizens Bank of Forsyth and Monroe Academy. Mr. Treadwell worked endless hours of service with the Monroe County Exchange Club, Macon Masonic Lodge No. 5, and the Al Sihah Mounted Patrol.
He is predeceased by parents, Thomas Hilton Treadwell and Verna Pruet Treadwell, and his grandson, Thomas Hilton Treadwell, III.
Mr. Treadwell is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Mathews Treadwell of Forsyth; two children, Thomas Hilton Treadwell, II of Destin, and Cheryl Leigh Treadwell of Forsyth; three grandchildren, Artem Treadwell, Tyndal Treadwell, and Tolan Treadwell; and one great-grandchild, Madison Treadwell.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the Central Georgia Convention Center with Rev. Lee Roberts officiating. Visitation will be held at Monroe County Memorial Chapel from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Monday, July 2, 2012.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Monroe County Unit, 3312 Northside Drive, # A140, Macon, GA 31210.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
