Dewain Jerkins
Culloden . . . . Dewain Jerkins, 68, of Culloden, Georgia, passed away suddenly on April 4, 2012, from injuries sustained in a tragic accident at the family farm.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Russellville Baptist Church, 111 Russellville Road, Forsyth, Georgia 31029, with burial in the church cemetery. Dr. Ed Rowell and Reverend Jered Day will officiate. The family will greet friends Saturday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the residence, 4800 Hwy 341, Culloden, Georgia 31016.
Born in Morganfield, Kentucky, the son of Douglas and Frances Jerkins. Dewain attended Willingham High School in Macon and the University of
Georgia. A devoted husband, father and “granddaddy”, he was a notable and well respected Middle-Georgia automobile dealer of twelve years.
Following retirement, Dewain and wife Rosanne spent the last twenty five years building a beautiful family farm together, pursuing a passion for the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and growing an unprecedented collection of roses.
A deacon of Russellville Baptist Church, he was a devoted follower of Christ an avid sportsman and an unwavering supporter of the Georgia Bulldogs.
He is survived by his wife of thirty four years, Rosanne Wilson Jerkins, brother, Gary Jerkins (Darnell), sister, Michele Britt (Larry), four children, Leigh Lawton (Bill), Julie Farmer (Mike), Mike Lynch (Kim), Troy Jerkins and seven grandchildren, Alexa, Connor, Aidan, Mackenzie, Rachael, Will and Jason.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made in Dewain’s name, to Russellville Baptist Church, in care of Nadine Wilson, 5545 Hwy 42 South, Forsyth, GA 31029.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
