Annette Gay Spear

November 19, 1928 — March 23, 2012

Annette Gay Spear Forsyth – Annette Gay Spear, 83, died March 23, 2012, after a lengthy illness. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, March 26, 2012, in Monroe Memorial Gardens, Forsyth. Dr. H. Darrell Watson and Rev. Alec Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm, Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel, Forsyth. The family requests no flowers but suggests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P. O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 or on-line at alz.org. Annette, the daughter of the late Emory Speer Gay and Susie Brown Gay, was born in Millen, Jenkins County, Georgia on November 19, 1928. She graduated from Millen High School and moved to Forsyth to attend Bessie Tift College where she graduated with her BS in Education in 1948 and met the love of her life, Ben Spear. She taught 5th grade at Banks Stephens School for many years and went on to become librarian at Monroe County Elementary School and then Hubbard Elementary School where she made the decision to retire and become a homemaker and wonderful grandmother. She was a member of Mt Pleasant Baptist Church, Spear Road, Forsyth, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She is survived by her five daughters, Angela (Michael) Dillon, Barbara (Ray) McDonald, Cynthia (Andy) Frazier, Donna Robins (Tom Sink) and Emily (Mark) Gay, 17 grandchildren, Drew Alex Dillon, Brent (Abbie) Elliott, Kallie (Max) Perkins, Paige Dixon, Ralena McDonald, Suzanne (Eric) Mora, Trey Frazier, Brittany Frazier, Katie (Josh) Sykes, John Robins, Jacob Robins, Elizabeth Robins, DavidAllen Robins, Tim Sink, Michelle Sink, Matthew (Jessica) Gay and Sallie Gay, and ten great-grandchildren. The family may be contacted at the residence of Donna Robins and Tom Sink, 604 Spear Road, Forsyth, Georgia. Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
