Martha Clarkson Fletcher Forsyth . . . . Martha Clarkson Fletcher died January 30, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Forsyth United Methodist Church. Reverend Ken Stephens and Reverend Renfroe Watson will officiate. Burial will follow at the Forsyth City Cemetery. The Family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Mrs. Fletcher was born October 4, 1925, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Hall Clarkson. She grew up in Walker County, Georgia, graduated from LaFayette High School, and Georgia State College in Milledgeville, Georgia. She was a retired teacher of 42 years having taught two generations at Mary Persons High School in Forsyth, Georgia. Mrs. Fletcher is survived by her husband Jack K. Fletcher, married 59 years; son James Edward Fletcher and daughter Tammy Fletcher; two granddaughters Anna and Emily Fletcher; sisters Sydney Smith (Alvin), Mary Jane Wilson (Howard) both from Florida; brother Joe Clarkson of Walker County, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tommy Fletcher, Blair Smith, Wallace Clark, Eugene Leake, Eddie Moore and Joe Evans will serve as pallbearers, Hal Parish, Bobby Melton, David Taylor, Jimmy Webb, Charlie Haygood, Bob Harris, Paul Jossey and Dr. Kevin Smith will serve as honorary pallbearers and musicians will be Ruth Cole and Martha Jo Fountain. In lieu of flowers, donations to Library Fund at Forsyth United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 108, Forsyth, Georgia 31029. Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
