George Washington Willis

Forsyth . . . George Washington Willis died Thursday, November 24, 2011. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 26, 2011, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Burial will be private. Dr. Michael Quicke will officiate. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Mr. Willis, the son of the late Edgar Holland Willis and Gladys Nadine Wishum Willis was born April 23, 1931, in Ty Ty, Georgia. He retired from the Department of Transportation as a project engineer and was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Fran Willis of Forsyth, children, Gregg (Cheryl) Willis of Macon, Robley (Sandra) Willis of Macon and Mark (Deborah) Willis of Forsyth, sisters, Lois (Alva) Gillean of Greenville, Florida, and Mildred (Coy) Whittington of Lovejoy, Georgia, five grandchildren, Christopher Willis, Cameron Willis, Cassidy Willis, Lauren Willis and Stephen Willis. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75231-4596. Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
