VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTEForsyth. . . . . . . Dr. Sandra Wolfe Hickman of Forsyth, Georgia died December 28, 2011. Dr. Hickman, the daughter of the late Joe Henry and Louise Poole Wolfe was born February 13, 1945, in Uvalda, Georgia. Her sister, Sara Wolfe Gonzalez preceded her in death. Dr. Hickman dedicated her life to the field of education. After graduating from Toombs Central High School, she earned her Bachelor of Education from Valdosta State University, her Masters in Education from Georgia College and her Doctorate of Education from Nova Southeastern University. She and her husband of 46 years, Mike Cleveland Hickman, were staunch believers in a strong public school system, and she worked toward that goal until her retirement from the Monroe County School System in 1997. Dr. Hickman is survived by her husband Mike Hickman and their two sons Dr. Mike Hickman, Jr. and his wife Dana, and Dr. Stanley Jason Hickman and his wife Blair. She is also survived by her younger brother Joe Henry Wolfe. Dr. Hickman’s passing will be keenly felt by her grandchildren Rebecca Brittany Hickman, Lauren Brooke Hickman, Stanley Jason Hickman, Jr. and Logan Parker Hickman, as well as nieces and nephews Dr. Rebecca Lou Wolfe, Ivan Joseph Gonzalez, Amelia Louise Gonzalez, Robert Anthony Gonzalez. Additional survivors include her aunt Johnie Will Sikes and numerous cousins. The family will greet friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, December 30th at Monroe County Memorial Chapel, 86 West Main Street, Forsyth, Georgia. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Forsyth United Methodist Church, 68 West Johnston Street, Forsyth, Georgia. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m., at Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1688 Currie Road, Uvalda, Georgia. Reverend Ken Stephens, Reverend Brian Moore, and Reverend Danny Parker will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Forsyth United Methodist Church Building Fund, 68 West Johnston Street, Forsyth, GA 31029 or to Smyrna United Methodist Church, 1688 Currie Road, Uvalda, GA 30473. Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
